Lo Schiavo Genealogica, LLC is an international research and citizenship firm with offices in both the U.S. and Italy. The firm is growing rapidly, and we need a person skilled in Italian genealogy research and translations of standard Italian and Latin genealogy documents (civil and parish). This is not a position for a beginning genealogist, as significant experience is necessary. This position will directly report to the research team leader.

Applicant must reside within the U.S. and be available to work with our team between 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. eastern (and other times, as needed). The ability to work on multiple, complicated projects at the same time is important. The person that fills this position must attend weekly team meetings.

Job Experience Requirements

o Must have significant experience in Italian genealogical research. This includes understanding genealogical evidence and standard Italian genealogy sources.

o Must have significant experience in translating Italian genealogical records and Latin parochial records.

o Must have an understanding of professional genealogy principles and standards within the industry.

o General understanding of how to order records from U.S. and Italian repositories and governmental offices.

o Attention to detail and the ability to work on multiple projects at a time.

o Willingness to work within an establish team with systems in place for report writing, as well as project and time management.

o Willingness to take direction and learn the intricacies of jointly working on research and research reports.

o General understanding of the Google online apps, Dropbox, Adobe, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

o Ability to express yourself in a business-like manner in all communications with staff and clients.

Salary and Benefits

The position is part-time employment on an hourly basis. The hourly rate will be between $30-$40, depending on the candidates’ experience.

Employees have access to a company 401K (with 4% matching) as well as paid vacation. The registration fee for one educational opportunity (course, webinar) per year will be paid by the company, the choice of which is at the owner’s discretion.
